Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Travel and Ground Transport

(Washington, District of Columbia - DC, USA)

Washington certainly ranks amongst North America's most important and influential cities, and Dulles International Airport (IAD) comes with a good assortment of ground transport to whisk arriving passengers to their chosen destination.

Serving Washington and many surrounding suburbs, such as Centreville, Reston, Arlington, Silver Spring and Rockville, ground transport at Dulle Airport comes in the form of buses, shuttles, taxis and a cheap Metrorail line.

Dulles International Airport is served by numerous buses, linking downtown Washington and other nearby areas in Virginia, such as Roanoke and Charlottesville. Operated by Greyhound and Virginia Regional Transit Association (VRTA), the buses also connect a number of attractions, such as the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

An additional coach service arrives and departs from the Arrival level at the Main Terminal and heads to the nearby West Falls Church Metrorail Station. This service operates from early morning until late at night. Tickets are available at the Ground Transportation Counter, next to door 4.

Hotel Shuttle

Courtesy telephones for hotel shuttles await passengers at the baggage reclaim . Shuttle buses collect guest just outside, at the curbside.

Shuttle Buses

Shuttle buses are also available at Dulles International Airport and are operated by 'SuperShuttle'. Traveling from the Main Terminal into central Washington, shuttles make many stops on the way. Vans with access for disabled passengers can be organised upon request.

The Washington Metrorail system is the local rapid train transport system. The West Falls Church Metrorail Station (Orange Line) is situated close to the airport and can be reached by a short 'Flyer Coach' journey (every 30 minutes).

Taxi Cabs

All of the taxis at Dulles Airport are operated by Washington Flyer Taxicabs and these run 24 hours a day. The journey from IAD into downtown Washington will last around 30 to 45 minutes. Surcharges may be added for excess luggage, late-night travel and drop-offs, so be sure to check an hidden fees before you step into your cab.
